A small workshop in Hyderabad.
BoldHorn is not a marketplace listing and it is not a shop that buys wallets from Daraz and posts them on at a markup. It is a small team that decided to put its name to something.
One of us handles the leather and the couriers — picking the hides, checking every wallet before it is boxed, and arguing with the courier company when a parcel goes to the wrong street. The WhatsApp number on this site reaches that person directly, not a call centre.
One of us builds the store and shoots the product. If a photograph on this site is wrong, it gets fixed.
One of us runs the numbers.
We work from S.I.T.E Area, Hyderabad. We are not a factory. We work in small batches, which is why a colour occasionally runs out and why no two wallets are identical.
Why we started
Walk into any market in Pakistan and you can buy a wallet for Rs 500. It will be bonded scrap or coated split — leather dust glued onto a backing — and it will peel within a year. Walk into a mall and you can buy an imported one for Rs 12,000, which is mostly the badge and the duty.
There was very little honest in between: real full-grain hide, stitched properly, at a price a working person in Pakistan can actually justify. That gap is the whole reason this exists.
What we will and will not tell you
We will tell you the leather arrives already marked, because it does. We will tell you it will scuff, because it will. We publish the measurements, and we publish them in centimetres because that is what you will measure with.
We will not tell you our wallets are handmade by artisans over three days, or that the hide comes from some named European tannery, because we cannot prove either and we are not going to make it up. When we can prove something, we will say it.
The 7 Day Carry Test
Do not judge a wallet on the day it arrives. Load it with your cards, put your notes in it, and carry it for a week. If after seven days it is not right — too thick, wrong size, not what you expected — send it back unused and in its box and we refund it.
We would rather take a wallet back than have it sit in a drawer.
Cash on delivery, and why we ring you first
You pay the courier when the parcel is in your hand. Nothing is taken before that.
We telephone every customer to confirm the order and the address before the parcel leaves us. It takes a minute, and it is the single thing that stops parcels going to the wrong place. If we cannot reach you after three attempts across two days, we cancel the order and nothing is charged.
